We are not there now as we summer in Minnesota. i'm not sure if this crawling plant is a weed or not. It seems to be crawling in leaps and bounds. Yes, I do have someone watering. Worried that it may damage the patio floor. Should I have someone take care of it, get rid of it? We do not get back to Arizona until October. Thank you!

I'm sorry to say that the picture, whilst useful, is not very useful on its own, we also need one that shows the plant in detail. As it is, its impossible to pick out even a leaf shape, so can't identify it.

I would suggest you call upon a local 'expert' and ask him/her to take a look.
Personally, I think it looks rather nice. :)

im only generalising here but generally whats above the ground with a plant is also below . I have know doubt it would go every wear were it not for your patio . I just cant see such a fine plant getting any further than wear it is really as it hasn't gone up the walls either . it wont damage the patio I doubt . the only thing that could happen is bio degradable stuff collects under it and gives it more purchess on your patio . id do what the experts have said but in the mean time if its longer than you like trim it back . after all a weed is a plant in the wrong place .

Can't see much of the plant in detail but I wonder if it's Mind Your Own Business which is a tiny spreading plant. Spreads rapidly too.

I wondered that Arbuthnot...

You certainly have a touch of the triffids there!
If you don't want it then get rid of it, sooner rather than later.
1. It's spreading fast - possibly faster than it might do if you were there to keep it under control and you could go home in a couple of months to find your whole patio covered.
2. It may not damage the stonework (ie cause it to break up) but it will almost certainly discolour the stone and the mortar.

You could make up some small pots and give them away to people you don't like!

ps doesn't look like myob to me - but really would help to have a close up pic.

Can I be silly for a moment please? I was intrigued by the idea of crawling in leaps and bounds???
