green beans

my green bean plants have red flowers but they are falling off and only some are turning into beans why is this ???? is it because they are male and female ?????

No - it sounds as if they are not being fertilised by insects - bees etc. Could be the very odd weather we've been having over here! I usually have lots of butterflies by now but there are so few this year.
