my daughter found one in a crack in an old stump at the park. I think they are adorable... :)

It means that until today, some newts have been successfully hiding from you for eleven years as well as the fish and birds that they fall prey to. Why don't you create more hiding places for them, they would appreciate that greatly. It sounds odd but these are the type of secretive creatures where you can be more sure of their presence if you don't see them. Welcome to GOY!
