Hi, welcome to GoY, do you mean you have 2 worms each 1 half an inch long, with a 2 inch tail, and their heads swell up?, or do you mean you have 1 worm 2 1/2" long, with a 2" long tail, whose head swells up?, intriguing question, Derek.

Have a look at photos of the caterpillar of the puss moth, they kind of match your description.
I don't think the head swells up, but they have twin tails and a face that looks like a space helmet.

The puss moth caterpillar in my book is green. Isn't it great - I really want one! (Not got the food plants though...) Teadrinker you are a genius.
