I have just demolished a 20 year old conservatory made of iroko hard wood and stained with sikkens exterior finish stain. Is it sensible to use some of the timber to line vegetable and fruit beds or is the wood and stain likely to leach out and contaminate the soil and the veg?

For making raised beds no problem. I have even seen train rails being use to make veggi and flower beds.

Hi Thefford and welcome to GoY. Why would you want to 'line' your veggie and fruit beds with anything?
