Hi Bulba, I never watch chelsea on tv, it just depresses me that I have neither the space, time, or the money to try and replicate any of the show gardens, so I just give it a miss, Derek.
ps,any relation to the exec producer ?.

If he is he hasn't told me Derek!

So Derek, email my namesake, and no _ I am not related, and tell him why you don't watch. If enough people say too much show gardens and too many celebs, both sides of the mike, then they 'just might' change. On the other hand, don't hold your breath.

Hi Bulba, yes, never thought of it that way, it would be nice to see more of the new plant introductions, which people might then go out and buy, rather than the unattainable, Derek.

I watched half of it but cant say I really like the repetition, I do have an attention span of more than 10mins!
I will send an email. thanks for sharing the info :o)

Done. I've asked for less on the Show Gardens, more on the smaller gardens (which are more relevant to the size of today's average garden), more from inside the pavilion, especially the specialist nurseries, and MUCH less on celebs.

I watched one evening and then promptly forgot about it for the rest of the week! I have mixed views on the whole thing - yes it's nice to see the show gardens and pick up ideas but it's also good to see what can really be done in the space of a typical garden and if they had to do it on a realistic budget that would be even better!

Totally agree Urbanite

I do not watch t.v. and never of course Chelsea. I only read the news on my computer.
Why should I bother to see plants raised by a specialist in an artificial environment, which will never look the same in my garden? My poor opinion.

It's the same thing every year. One or two nice show gardens, and some really strange arty, farty ones with peculiar metal objects dotted around with yet another water feature. Or a desert garden made out of sand with some seaweed, thistles and kale lying around. What is the point? There's no wow factor whenever I've watched. The show is woefully overrated.

IMO the Hampton Court flower show is much better. At least they show a few decent gardens with lawns in them, and less of the arty imaginary types.

Why cant the presenters explain to us that the plants are all grown in polytunnels in pots ? Some dear old souls must think these people grow them in their own gardens.
I always say if they had my clay soil and the gale force
winds up here, they wouldnt do any better than I do.

I loved the junior flower arrangers' 'dresses.'

Another programme that I watch with the sound off! I normally drive my husband mad by my moaning about the show, so he and I are both grateful to you bulbaholic for allowing to vent, without bashing his ears.

How do I say thanks?
