We have a sloping garden which has a large patio and the rest grass with a few fruit trees at the bottom. We have an area 15m2 which is infront of a wall.
We have tried to create a thyme bank but our dog killed majority of the plants
when he was younger. We are finding it very difficult to obtain a large amount of thyme plug plants so have decided to cover it with slate and plant a few rock plants into it. Do you have any other ideas?

Have you got any pics of the area? You need to add a lot of grit before planting alpines. Will the slate slide down a slope? Look at the Goy pages for rockery and alpines to give you some good ideas.

Thanks for your reply. We were going to teram the area first. I will go and take a pic and perhaps you can advise. It is more of a bank.

A water feature does sound nice but not a pond. We do have a dog run but the dogs are in the garden all day.
I need something low maintenance.
Do you have any suggestions for summer flowering ground cover that will stay green in the winter months?
