No idea - never used

I am sure that it does work as it adds a boost of nitrogen to the compost. On the other hand I can think of a cheaper alternative that only needs a bucket being kept in the potting shed!

Oh THAt compost accelerator... you don't use a bucket love - but I have to lol

No just pee in a bucket and tip it onto your compost - will have exactly the same effect and not cost you a penny.

It has to be gentlemans pee though, ours is too acidic !! I use garotta in my compost, quite good.

That isn't true we put my urine in the compost just as much as we put Bulbas

I agree wholeheartedly, Moongrower - this myth should be thoroughly debunked!

Sorry, Bob Flowerdew on gardeners world specifically said ONLY male urine is to be used.

I don't care what he said, I've been using female urine for years and it works just as well, Grandmage!

Oh my word. I didn't know this would turn into such a debate!!! It's good to talk! and share ideas.

Pistols at dawn then??

It is time Bob Flowerdew and others woke up to the fact they have been giving our false info re urine and compost for donkey's years! Whether your urine is acidic or alkaline has far more to do with what you eat and rink than your sex!

I'd rather listen to Bob frankly, didnt need all this !

There is no such thing as 'the one and only truth' in gardening, whatever the topic. Start a discussion about compost mixes, fertilisers, best greenhouse or wether or not to lift snowdrops in the green; do extensive research from the 'experts' and you will get several different answeres, yet, all the growers that you have consulted are successful with their own method.
In my opinion Bob Flowerdew is no better and no worse than any of the celebrity gardeners and if you wish to be a follower of Bob, Grandmage, that is fine but, please, don't accept what he says as gospel.

I only asked a question people if I knew this would upset people I wouldn't have asked!!! On reflection I will buy the compost acceleration stuff and try it for myself. Grandmarge sorry you got uset!!

Come on guys, each to his own - Bulbaholic's spot on with his comments. I'm just saying, Grandmage, that my experience is the opposite of Bob's diktat - and I know I'm not alone in that. No need for pistols at dawn, vive la difference, I say;-))
