Looks a bit like a viola leaf?

They are amazingly like Violets TT.

Thank you.
I don't know how they got there.
In my front garden, near the water butt, with large snowdrops growing up the centre !

The little devils go like wildfire, lovely though.

Wow, sounds like a line from one of my blog poems ... !
... maybe it's your turn to write some poetry Bob. Lol. ;o)

I don't think so TT I leave that to you. I am obeying the bosses orders this afternoon (Sylvia I mean) and taking the afternoon off as I kept her awake all night with a hacking cough.

11 Mar, 2010

I hope you feel better soon....
Yes, do exactly as Sylvia suggests....

.... Rest your throat ...
... otherwise she won't get any sleep tonight ! :o)

Well if it's not coughing it's snoring, or so i'm told. LOL.

Sylvia is definitely a survivor. Lol. :o)

I'm not convinced they're violets - they could be Sidalcea malvilfora leaves

Hi Bamboo...
Thanks..... I've just googled that plant but as yet can't find a pic showing much in the way of leaves... I'll keep googling. Thanks again...

11 Mar, 2010

I'll admit I thought the leaves of Sidalcea were rounder rather than with a point, but i've got the same problem as you - no decent pics of the leaves! It's just this plant looks rather large to just be a violet - unless you took it in real close up, I guess.

11 Mar, 2010

No ...my camera doesn't take close-up pics at the moment...
Thanks for helping me research this...

I'll try to add a photo in a while when the plant has developed...
and I will add a comment to this thread when I have done so...
Last year the area had just hyacinths and the tall snowdrops of which you can see the stems in the centre...

I think the hyacinths have disappeared completely...
... might have been too damp for the bulbs in that area last summer...:o(

This link shows violet leaf shape ...

Hi Terratoonie, Have just seen your query. I have just uploaded a photo of Celandine leaves and White violet leaves taken from my garden. Take a look and see if you think they compare.

20 Mar, 2010

Thank you Cinderella... I'll take a look :o)

The leaves on my mystery plant are less shiny than celandine.. and larger.

I've added the photo kindly supplied by Cinderella for comparison.
Any more thoughts please ?

22 Mar, 2010

No. I stick with viola.
If we keep this thread going a bit longer they will be in flower though. :-).

22 Mar, 2010

Thanks Bulbaholic...
The plant is not so very far from my front door, so I'm keeping a close eye on it.
If it flowers, I'll put a pic. above with the other photos. :o)

New photos added.
Mystery of my plant [ top photo ] solved... Violets !

Thanks to all those who contributed comments... :o)

Ther new picture is of celandine leaves, Terratoonie.

26 Mar, 2010

Thanks. Bulbaholic.
The Celandine was given to me by a neighbour a few doors away...and he wasn't sure of its name. I thought it looked like Celandine, but I can tell him with confidence now ! Lol.
