I have a lot of lobbelia plants in my garden borders which have now finished flowering & left dead trailing stalks, do I cut them back to ground level or remove the whole plant & plant new next spring? Also how do I trim back out of control ground cover plants?

Lobelia is a half hardy annual so remove and plant news ones, or grow from seed, in the spring. Depends on the ground cover plant you are asking about.

Yep I go allong with MG the cost of the seeda is small - so just sow new seeds in the spring and just pull the old ones out and bin - I bring mine on in March in the green house with heat as plug plants - Ken

If your ground cover is taking up too much room the usual thing is to just dig out what you don't need.

How do I say thanks?
