Hello folks
need some advice regarding purchasing power tools for the garden, a few weeks ago I bought a multi tool from ideal world, which included hedge trimmer, brush cutter, pruner and strimmer.
After one use I knew that it was not up to the job, I do not have an overgrown garden or anything, but the hedge cutter would not be able to slice through butter never mind shave the hedge.
so I sent the whole lot back.
I now need to purchase equipment ready for the cutting and pruning, for you experienced people out there could you advise what tools would be up for the job.

A good choice would be to invest in Stihl power tools, very robust and very reliable, and do a fantastic job , you can get a multi tool stihl, if your after quality and reliablity then look no further, but they will cost more than the usual run of the mill tools but you only get what you pay for.

There's a Latin saying that goes... Amaritudinem pauperum qualitas moratur post multum temporis suavitate pretium est humilis defluxit.

Which translates as... The bitter taste of poor quality lingers long after the sweet taste of the cheap price has faded away.

Ryobi are good stuff at a resonable price.

I'm wondering what a brush cutter is... Whichever make you choose regarding hedge trimmers, get yourself a decent one. Also think about whether you want a rechargeable (no flex when you're cutting) or an electric with cord (more difficult in use cos you have to remember to keep the flex out of the way). As for pruners, surely a decent pair of Wolf Garten secateurs and a pair of loppers would do that job. Can't speak to strimmers, never use 'em, seen too much damage round the base of trees from people using those, I stick to shears.

Stihl, Stihl, Stihl. Every time.

I bought my 2 hedge cutters, strimmer, and long hedgecutters (all dedicated tools, no multi-tools), seven years ago, and they're 'stihl' performing superbly.
