Looks like coltsfoot.

It is coltsfoot and normally considered a weed - though an attractive one.

Thanks for the posts, I agree it is kind of attractive. I just have to decide if it stays of goes now !

It has yellow flowers a bit like small dandelions only with scaly stems in late winter very early spring that disappear long before the leaves appear. It used to be used as a very effective cough medicine but like so may effective herbal remedies it seems to have been withdrawn. Nothing else I've tried has been anything like as good.
