I have a Lace Cap Hydrangea that has got too big & straggly , can I cut it right down, I know it won't flower next year if I do, but I can wait till it does.

Then, yes you can cut it back. Maybe better to do it over a few years rather than all at once. 1/3 of it removed now, and so on.
