should or can the uv lamp on my pond filter be turned off for the winter

Yes you can turn it off, ours like Seaburngirls had broken and we,ve had a clear pond. We do leave the filter running all year round.
Our instruction booklet for the UV filter says not to expose it to frost (the UV that is).

Yes, i always turned mine off on my koi pond around October time. I replaced the bulb (they only have a 6 month life) every march and turned it back on then.
Remember to turn just the UV off, not the actual filter.

Yes you can turn it off. the bulb in mine broke 2 yrs ago and I 've never replaced it . the pond is fine as are the plants and fish [thankfully]
