Help I'm drowning in cleavers, the whole garden is getting over run. What can I do!? I have large beds which were recently cleared and I'm slowly filling up with small perennials and shrubs (cheaper as I've so many to buy). I was away a week on hols and the sticky willies are everywhere :( Do I need to put membrane down until shrubs are bigger?

Cleavers are annuals, Pam, so I keep going round the garden and just pulling up whatever I see whenever I see them. I still have not managed to eradicate cleavers but they are no longer a menace.

Aah that will be due to my 2 fallow years then and then churning the soil around with the clearout. I did 2 hours and got about a 5th of the garden done yesterday. It ripped my arms to shreds :( I look like I've been fighting with a particularly angry cat. Thanks.

Great chicken food - they love it (hence another of its names - goosegrass).

Dratted nuisance is it not? Our hedgerows are full of it so we have no chance of clearing it from the garden. The seeds are a real nuisance for the cats. they come in covered in them and then spend hours trying to get rid of them. Never saw a cat spit things out before, but they both sit there and do it.

Yes our hedges are full of it as well. Thistles are going crazy this year to.

How do I say thanks?
