why is my sweet corn plant turning reddish purplish

Answers
Could also be due to lack of water/nutrients getting into the plant. Are there any grubs that could be chewing the roots of the sweetcorn, therefore reducing its ability to take up water from the soil?

temperature fluctuations may be the cause as may mineral deficiency. any chance of a photo? welcome to GoY too :o)
