Saw this plant in a stately home garden, but no label for it, so would like to know what it is. I wondered if it was from the Euphorbia family.

Well, I reckon it is Fritillaria persica, which is a bulb.

I think that you are spot-on owdboggy. There is also a white form often sold as Ivory Bells.

Thank you Owdboggy and Bulba. I will trust your judgement. It has an awful scent ? (smell).

Wait until you carry a car full of them across the country for a flower show!

OMG. All windows open then. Don't think I want that plant !!

It's fine in the open garden, not much fun as Bulba says in a car especially as you can't have the windows open!
