Tulip bulbs - I received 200 bulbs as a present on Saturday. They are excellent bulbs, healthy. I find it is late to plant in pots. Any input? should i risk leaving them in their package or try planting them out in pots?

I planted some in pots last week and they are doing fine. They will be put out , in flower when I can see where there are gaps in the bulbs. If anything you may lose flowering next year, but they usually survive and grow. What have you got to lose?

If you've no room in your borders you could buy some cheap growbags and let them go about their business there.
Not ideal or the prettiest way to display, but better than drying up the bulbs. Would be easy to sort out once flowering is over too.

It is very late for planting, Detta, but if you leave them in bags they will shrivel and die. Planting in the ground would be best but in pots if the ground is not possible.
