There was a BBC connection I believe so I guess it has something to do with the cut backs, or could it be there is no BBC money and the 'experts' have asked for more money from click and didn't get it,so they pulled pulled their services.

Or am I being too cynical?

I dont think it was a BBC thing? I think one of the members or a director mentioned it from time to time on his radio programme. I noticed that the RHS seem to have closed theirs too?

Alastair, have sent you a PM.

Quote; Alastair, have sent you a PM.???

Can't we all share the knowledge ??? ;o))

I've never Herd of it but. You should find anything you want on this Site.

Teegee: I think its inappropriate to advertise another garden/social site on here, but its pertinent to Alastair. It's also currently, and for the time being, only accepting certain people, so sometimes, people have things to say which ARE private, or not relevant to most other people.

How can it be advertising when something has closed down to the general public?

22 Sep, 2012

When something else has been created.

There is a page on Facebook that says open to all members who were on the old site and wish to keep in touch. It is called Friends of Gardenersclick. I was told about them by an old but very active friend who is a member.

Thanks Jen, no big secret then!

Oh lordy ROSEMIDS at it again.................... I get the distinct impression that the closed site is being sneered at. the site had a very large 'constant' community, that remained friendly and homourous, without so much as a snide comment from any individuals and it was beyond the members or the admin team to keep the site going. It was in actual fact a very warm and interactive community. There was the odd comment from new members that appeared like carrion towards the end. The 'clickers' are reuniting one way or another, very much like mercury, drawn to each other. Only not like dying swans................... oh woe is me............... hi i'm back.
It is being done in a quiet orderly fashion for the original members to begin with, so that all teething probs can be ironed out before inviting other folk. In some respects it is very much like this site. Only without the vultures and bossy queen swans that pick on certain individuals and sneer. It's not very becoming.
And to add to above, I haven't been unable to get on RHS, It has been open to me every day. No probs for me!

I give up! I was just giving I thought helpful information on a Facebook site which is free to the world. I am not talking about any private sites that may or may not be around. I became a member of the old site during it early days in 2008.

For your information i was a member of 'Gardenclick' as I was a member of the BBC forum.

Towards the end we were invited to suggest other sites as replacements and that Is how I was introduced to GOY.

Plus if Bamboo looks again she will see I was only winding her up

Due to not having a smiley facility I added ;o)). at the end of my query.

Having said that! I for one do not like the ' private mail' facility as god only knows what is passed on, give me openness every time.

So if I have upset anyone on my ' openess' I apologies! ..Tg

No not upset with you the other messages I did not understand.

Teegee, sometimes people PM each other because they want to talk about, for instance, period pains, or a new solution for hot flushes in menopause, or tell the other person they've started a new affair with somebody, or they've come down with some horrible disease and want advice. I personally have no compunction at all in discussing such private matters/problems/adventures in front of the whole world, couldn't give a monkey's, frankly, but most other people are not so free as I am, and I respect that.

This forum is as much for people to make friends, privately if they want, as it is a public site, and the PM facility is for that as much as anything else. It is well to remember that any reference to a PM may not be connected, about or referring to you, or anything garden related, at all.

Love it Bamboo ;o))

Being a man I am more likely to PM old friends such Al Zeimer, Arthur Itus and not forgetting Mr D Mentia :o))

Hee hee, those too of course for us gals... Let's face it, you might not want the world to know you now need 4 different pairs of glasses and everything creaks when you get up in the morning. Hence PMs.

DRC: The term 'secret' is incorrect; 'secret' and 'private' have different meanings. Speaks volumes that you think they mean the same, but there you go, I guess we're all different. As for the content of what I said to Alastair, I shall only make the time honoured response, which is, you might say that - I couldn't possibly comment.

Hi, I have come from Gardenersclick too. I was also a member of the BBC forum. I am shocked to find out that GC has closed down (I have been busy with my own gardening blogs, so have not been on GC for a while). Did you not get any warning then?

10 Oct, 2012

Liz - please check your PMs. And no, we didn't get any warning, though the writing was on the wall!

11 Oct, 2012
