Silybum marianum (Blessed Mary's Thistle)

Silybum marianum (Blessed Mary's Thistle) (Silybum marianum (milk thistle))

I grew this plant from 10-year-old seed this spring. It's a big too crowded in here and has taken a beating from the slugs, but as plants go, this one certainly has a wow factor....

Yes, it is a thistle Dawn. It will get to about 2 or 3 ft across, but does not get very tall - about 2ft at most I would say. There will be seed next year if anyone is interested.

I was just looking at this plant today and although I thought it was a biennial, it does seem to be forming a flower stalk! So hopefully, there'll be seed this year! :-)

That is lovely!
Could I please have some seed (if there're enough) so I can add it to my thistle collection? I live in Scotland, we get them whether we want them or not, luckily I like them!

Yes of course you can Madperth! There is a beautiful purple-blue flower on it right now, so there will be seed this year for sure, so no need to wait long!
