Loads of flowers on this microphylla. As a Salvia enthusiast, do you leave cutting them back till the Spring, and into the old wood?

To be honest I rarely cut anything back until the spring. But Salvia are certainly best left except for in the mildest of areas if only for stronger growth the following year.
