Mertensia virginica - 2015

Mertensia virginica - 2015 (Mertensia virginica)

Very hardy American perennial, needing moist soil in a shady position. Grows up to two feet tall, slugs permitting. Dies back by the summer, so can occupy the same ground as hostas for example.

It needs some moisture all year round or will it tolerate a dry dormant period?

I found a website that suggested growing it with trilliums and uvularia, so a soil with plenty of humus is probably what is needed.
