It is Sheila, it seems to be quite good at self-seeding everywhere but I love the colours :)

I agree, it is very good at self-seeding. It turns up in the most unusual places!! I've got the larger version too (I think it's called Rose of Sharon) which I never planted, it just 'appeared' in the garden.

I'm not sure if this one was planted or 'just appeared' as it's my first year in this garden, but its numerous seedlings are definitely not meant to be where they are! The seedlings are coming out but this one can stay :)

I could've sent you some of my seedlings Magna! ...Though the postage probably would've cost more than what you paid for it :P

Aww thanks GG x It was 4 for £3.00 in there so I got this, a yellow coreopsis and 2 x 25 bearded iris bulbs....had to chuck a good few bulbs as they were mouldy - but rest seem ok :) Its only about 3 inches tall..... looks healthy enough though - Ive put it into a bigger pot until it comes into its own a bit more.....should i pinch the tip out of this? If so at what height do you think I should pinch it out? Another childhood memory plant for me....was loads of this in my local park......

I like a bit of bargain hunting Magna! I'm not sure about pinching it out though I'm afraid, I've only just learnt what it is recently. But I've been doing a bit of research today trying to find out what type this one is and I haven't noticed any advice to pinch them out.

I think this one may be a Hypericum Androsaemum (Tutsan) which self-seeds a lot and can be quite invasive (probably why there was loads of it in the park lol!!), but other types aren't such a problem. Did it say what type yours was?
