Quince

Quince (Chaenomeles speciosa (Flowering quince))

Right this is our biggest confusion! This has little yellow fruits (see next few photos) which smell kind of...soapy :s and have quite a bitter taste (my Uncle thinks he is Bear Grhylls and tried one!) but we have no idea what they are!

Hi Numbaten Your garden looks really lovely. I think your bush may be a quince. There are lots of very wise people on GOY and I am sure they will soon introduce themselves, and admire your garden a give you a warm welcome.
