Cinders it is such a pretty plant, but you need to see it close up to appreciate it.

Very pretty, DD....so lush too :)

Oh dear - now I just don't know, Dd. I might have named mine wrong!

1 Nov, 2010

I do believe this is the correct name, and it does look like yours, same habit, colours etc ? and as you say done really well this year.

What a beautiful photo and I agree, it does look incredible close-up! Funny name for her though...she's not in black at all!!! ;))

I'm even more confused after a good read and google, Dd. 'Lady in black' is supposed to have dark leaves and stems. 'Horizontalis' is meant to have widely spaced branches. ??????? Which is which?

Lovely...Gone on to my favs....

I have Aster lateriflorus horizontalis which has a description of Masses of tiny pale lilac flowers with warm rosy centres. These cover the foliage lightly with a delicate effect. The very fine dark green foliage becomes somewhat purple in autumn on horizontal stems, Spritz.

This is lovely DD just been googling it, very different, looks more like a shrub, I grew one from seed this year Felicia Filifolia have around 12 plants, god knows where they're all going to go,lol, no flowers this year but have grown really fast.

I have one like this DD gorgeous.

1 Nov, 2010

I've given up trying to see the difference - I'd need to have both plants side by side, I think.

Simbad I might just have to take some Felicia off your hands lol.....yes I love it Pamd.
Spritz let me know how you get on.......
Thanks Mot, Karen and Whiston.

Looking at this again, and my 'Lady in Black', I 'do' think the petals are slightly paler, Dd.

DD I'm just going to put a pic. on of my Aster, unfortunately I have lost the label of mine. :o((

4 Nov, 2010

Are you going to try to confuse us some more, Pam? LOL.

4 Nov, 2010

I'm really confused at the moment Spritz. Dosen't take much. lol. I lost my balance in the border this morning & went backwards. :o))

4 Nov, 2010

Pam I hope you have recovered from your fall...........we are all confused now lol

4 Nov, 2010

I was bending down taking a photograph DD. Still in my dressing gown. Hope no one was watching :o)))

5 Nov, 2010

Could 'Lady in Black' be a common or garden name for the same thing? It's much easier to remember!

5 Nov, 2010

Oh PAM! All that to take a photo? Are you all right?

No, Penny, it's a real name after the latin bit...

I've given up on the 'names' - I'm just going to enjoy the plants. After all - they 'are' both Asters, and they 'are' both lovely! :-D

5 Nov, 2010

Good idea Spritz....I must pm you about the posters for the NGS (had an email yesterday)

5 Nov, 2010
