The amaturer gardener has potatoes! My mother in law suggested that I dig one plant up in the trench and I got these………

My partner said he thought that my pot of potatoes were going to be no good so I thought I’d have a little dig and yay….. I got these…..

I’m really pleased and what was even better is that the soil is lovely around the potatoes – the worms are huge!
Yummy – Potatoes with mint from the garden – lucky us!

:D xx

I think she has done brilliantly well Val , does Chris help in the garden ?

9 Jul, 2012

yes they are both keen gardeners, Chris re designed the garden for her last year so she could grow veg, I was most impressed when I saw what she achieved last year, looks like she is doing better this year,

9 Jul, 2012

"Hello!" I'm here - watching you discuss me mother! hee hee

My spuds were yummy - I feel like a proper gardener now as last year was tomatoes, lettuce and runner beans! We've gone the whole hog this year! Best you get and visit soon so you can take some spuds back for your pasties! :D

Yay for potatoes!!! :0)

Oh no. where did you pop up from, you are a clever girl, I keep thinking of Chris smiling across the table, how is everything else doing. I am trying to decide when to come down,

9 Jul, 2012

You best come down before you know who eats all the spuds! LOL - bless him, he said not one word when he had a mouth full of spud - just grinned at me! :0)

My beans are filling out now and full of flowers, have curly kale, purple sprouting, garlic, onions, leeks, salad stuff, beets, spinach, cabbage, tomatoes, chilli's, peppers, herbs coming out my ears and strawberries - can't remember what else! It's all squeezed in to the 2m x 3m veg plot! I'm going to need an allotment soon! :D

xx

9 Jul, 2012

have you applied for an allotment, don't think Chris will agree to digging the lawn up, anyway I would have no where to sit,you are growing an awful lot down there, it sounds great, we are under water here again,

9 Jul, 2012

Ohh no! - its not raining here - had a shower and its threatening but nothing yet! No, he won't let me dig the lawn up... yet! (hee hee)

We did apply for an allotment about 4 years ago! You'd die of hunger waiting! lol :D

9 Jul, 2012

LOL!!! No Amy - not in such a small space, I only grow enough for the two of us and still thats too much sometimes! Some of my veg are the mini variety too! I tried to do the things we'll eat otherwise its a waste isn't it?

Yes you're right Pita ,we had a whole row of lettuce that went to seed I hate wasting it luckily out daughter is bringing her menagerie of animals over to be looked after while they go on holiday I expect the guinea pigs / hampsters lizards or whatever she brings will eat some of it ...

9 Jul, 2012

Good idea - I do that with the in-laws chickens - its nice to know my eggs have a direct link to my garden & kitchen waste!!
