Honey Bee

Honey Bee

Honey bees are often confused with solitary bees and bumble bees. They are fairly 'slim', can be black or with a yellow band, and notable for the pollen 'baskets' with yellow blobs of pollen on their legs. Usually there will be several on or near the same plant.

Whoops, I'll have to admit the truth! I posted the photo for someone who said they needed some help in identifying honey bees in gardens. It's not mine, I regret to say! Will remove it soon! (I really will take some close ups of our bees especially when they are on interesting flowers!)
