Centaurea hypoleuca 'John Coutts'

Centaurea hypoleuca 'John Coutts'

A real thug - it spreads by rhizomes so deep that I can't dig them out!

Can these be grown in a pot to avoid that? I like them :)

I have that problem as well Spritz , I try to get it all out but it always pops up somewhere nearby !

I have one with lots of buds, but it's still not in flower. Why would you want to eradicate it or are you only trying to contain it? Could you not push some slate into the ground around it to restrain the rhizomes? I know that it would be unlikely to stop it completely but it would, I think, slow it up a bit.

I am trying to keep it to a smaller area, but the roots/rhizomes are so deep that slates wouldn't stop them. Amy is right - they pop up at the other side of the bed - and my top border is about 10' wide! I have got the main clump down to about 3' x 4' from being right across the bed.

I have resorted to (whisper) weed killer!

oh dear oh dear, this is not looking at all good.

Could be the end fot Spritz. It's certainly the thin end of the wedge. We will have to interview her just to be fair Majeekahead.

I shall refuse to answer on the grounds that it might incriminate me!

I shall just repeat 'No comment'... lol.

I'll bring it round. Do you know where she lives or do we have to "Round Up" the police.

Hollow laugh. I'll be in the garden...looking forward to this... NOT!!!

Poor Tasteyg - waiting for an answer - sorry! I don't honestly know if they'd thrive in a pot, maybe if it was a very large one, I suppose. They are not exactly small plants in height, either!
