This is 1 of Our Most Colourful i think Bernieh ? This pic was taken just 10/15mins ago "11,30am" its the 1st time iv seen 1 of the Gold Finches eat any where but the Niger Feeder i have :)

I think you may be right - it is definitely one of the most colourful birds. Keep those dandelions - especially if you get visitors like this that like to munch on the seeds.

My friend rang at the weekend to ask me to identify some birds in his garden knowing I'm a bit of a bird watcher on the quiet. I said they sound like golfinches and that the like to eat dandelion seeds. He said "that's exactly what they are doing!", obviously impressed at my Bill Oddy type knowledge. I failed to mention that I only knew this from seeing your pic a couple of days before!

11 May, 2009

I've seen them eating dandelion seeds in my garden too, but they normally eat only the niger seed. Adorable birds!
