This side is very sunny, and i am quite happy with plants/shrubs on this side.
May remove paving though, not sure yet.

I have a Clematis Viticella and was very pleased with the amount of flowers on it in it's 1st year last year.

I like the variegated ivy on the fence, how about climbing a Clematis viticella through it for late summer colour. It is a type that can be cut back in winter so you can keep the ivy in line at the same time without sacrificing the flowers.
