Aglaonema 'Marble Queen'

Aglaonema 'Marble Queen' (Aglaonema 'Marble Queen')

This 1 of 4 plants in the ground. They are shade-loving plants that are native to the tropical swamps and rain forest of Southeast Asia. I need to water these plant every day or they wilt. They are a clumping plant.

I can see how the leaves are similar to Pulmonaria.

I am sure that we couldn't grow that outdoors here! It reminds me of a house-plant I have. Lovely markings.

Easy to see why this plant has the marble name.:o)

Very nice ...I am sure it would have to be a house plant here as well...

Hywel,

It's amazing how closely this plant does resemble Pulmonaria.
However, this plant really doesn't tolerate cold temperatures...36-38 degrees F. ( 2 or 3 degrees C.) for a very short period of time may be its limit...below that it would probably be mush.

These plants are commonly grown as house plants...the common name is Chinese Evergreen.

You're lucky! Most of my house plants get spider mite in Winter...it too dry from the Santa Ana Wind conditions (hot and dry). They do better outside where I can hose them off. I only have few house plants.

that's your lovely California climate! sigh.... I do believe I'd be doing the same if I lived where it was warm... but having the blooming beauties in the house through our long cold winters is a kind of psychotherapy~!...lol.

At least you have the houseplants for your therapy. You have to do what it takes to get through a long cold winter.

As a rule, I keep about 10 to 12 of the most bug resistant plants in the house.

Take care!

Gardengnome:

Yes, they usually grow as houseplants for most of the U.S. Yesterday, I just posted new pics of the Chinese evergreen plants next to my house.
