Pineapple for Ualda

Pineapple for Ualda (ananas cosumos)

You can see the new sprouts, just under the fruit on the left

Comments on this photo

You may notice there are six new sprouts around the fruit in the left, each one of them will be a new plant.
This is the easier way to have a new grown one.
The crowd also can be used, but the fruit will come a bit later than using the new sprouts from the base.
The pot dimensions: 120cm width x 10cm height, soil with calcium and magnesium and pH 4,5 to 5,5.

Oh oh.... sorry for the misunderstanding :(
I wish I'd have place to grow something like this.
My own pineaple is a very humble one. It's one of the first pictures I posted.

The ones in this picture, and also the information, was a nice contribution of my friend Fernando, he is the responsible for fruits and herbs production at the Botany Garden in Porto Alegre.

but i agree with Catfinch... fresh off the bush was the best pineapple I ever had :o)

Brilliant pineapples, so healthy and I can just smell their freshness. I think that was very honest of you not to claim them as your own - I think we would have all understood - they just look so yummy.

WOW!!! Beautiful pineapples. I grow pineapples, however, they don't get that large. They are sweet though.

Pineapple is native to Brazil along with most of the World's bromeliads. It no wonder why they look so great.

These plants remind of the acres of Pineapples grown in Oahu, Hawaii were they are grow commercially for Dole.

Mine own wasn't that big also, maybe planting them in the ground instead of in a pot they would grow bigger...

I have seen them large in the ground here...with nice pineapples.
However, every time I plant one in the ground the sow bugs eat all the roots.
I have to find a way of killing the sow bugs without using pesticides.
