I think James Dean has resorted to some drastic measures to counteract the proverbial prickly flop - notice the string ......

The more I look at this, the more I realise it is one of the best photos uploaded this month. :o)

Ooops I!!!!

Although this big flop has generated some great hilarity and all the ideas for 'stimulating' and 'propping' would be greatly helpful, I believe this is large specimen of Aporocactus which has a draping habit more for hanging baskets, though it does look nice here on james deans porch. I have never seen one this big around before. :-)

This is classic example of a plant being plonked in a corner and then left to its own devices - I don't think it's been touched in years (apart from the string !!)
