Cupressus translates to Cypress of which there are some 24 or more types. Unfortunately this is where common names become confusing because not all Cypress trees are Cupressus for example the Patagonian Cypress is Fitzroya cupressoides - but all in the Cupressaceae family.

Aww I have to confess that i google "cipreste" and Cupressaceae was the botanical name that came up... unfortunatelly I dont know a thing about plants... just that I like them all :o)

Hey don't worry about plant names the important thing is to enjoy the plants and if your really need to know what something is called there are loads of folk about who will be able to help. Clearly Cipreste is Portuguese for Cypress so at least this is one common name that works quite well. The problems with common arise when the name means two different things in two different languages or even areas of the same country.
