What in the world is this flower???

6 Oct, 2008

sorry, Sjp8987. I didn't tag the photo. It is Nigella. The seeds of N. sativa are used in cooking...but the pic is of blossom of a white flowered nigella from seeds from a friend. It is getting close to frost and I'm hoping not to lose the plant before it sets seed so I can cut the flowerheads. The seed pods are decorative...can't wait...hope the frost hold off. Thanks Catfinch, I shall have to find out the variety.

Hello Catfinch ...my friend tells me it's nigella Damascena...this is the white...there are shades of blue too. Thanks, Sewingkilla.... great flowers aren't they?
