This is a picture of my dog Rusty who is a long hair dachshund. We got him at 8 wks, took him to the vet who told us he wouldn't live. He only weighed 11 0z, and had no fat and little body mass.
He was the runt and the breeder should have made sure he had alone time with the Mother. The breeder offered my money back or another puppy, but I already loved this one and asked try. I had to give him special warm formula every 2 hrs. He had to be kept warm so I carried him inside my shirt all the time. He was so tiny, but he made it and has been a joy every day since.

What a wonderful story. It just proves you should never give up. He's a beautiful dog and has found a good home with you.

Irish ~ If that is your dog in the picture, he is adorable. What breed of dog is it? I love all animals, but am partial to dogs and have always had one. Before Rusty we had a Sheltie named Spirit who lived for 14 years and enriched our lives.

yep Harli, thats one of my dogs, shes called meg and is just a mix of terrier. our other dog is Tay , a whippet cross

He must be doubly precious to you for having had to struggle to live. Not to mention bonding with you from being carried in your shirt. He's beautiful.

I think he's fantastic and well done for turning him into the dog he is today.
You have every right to feel proud.
We have had boxers for 40 years and the current two are totally typical of the breed-funny ,loyal,loving and great to have around!
