A good doer, foliage is crowded out this year

Shirley, mine haven’t been munched. But Rachel has planted three lately. Two are fine and one has clearly been attacked. Last year I planted Roma and it grew so well. This year I planted Buckland which has done less well, but lovely. And Venice which is very slow to establish, but is flowering. They are one of my favourite plants.

Karen, I have just read through The Garden (RHS magazine) again and see that that both Buckland and Roma were awarded AGM's.
Growing conditions: They like heavy, moisture-retentive soils in light shade; water in very dry spells.
Sadly, my garden does not offer those conditions so I think I will have to forget growing them here.

Hi Shirley I have never seen the slugs touch them but there's always a first, I can send you some of this one it's really easy to divide in spring or could do in autumn, my mom has it in a fairly dry sunny spot and I have it fairly rich soil but full sun in my front garden I will post a pic :-)

Jane, are these a plant that slugs like? I keep seeing Astrantias in gardening mags and tv shows, the RHS magazine features them this month but says beware of slug damage.
