Syagrus botryophora - Pati Queen Palms

These Patioba (Pati for short) Queen Palms are probably more than 40 ft 13 m) tall at the San Diego Zoo. It’s a very fast growing tropical palm which has become very popular in California in the last 20 years, but it unfortunately cannot tolerate a lot of cold. Typically, temps below 28 degrees f (- 2 c) will kill this palm. Photo taken February 18, 2024.
