Beautiful Borage field in East Yorkshire.

Stopped off while we were out in the motorbike yesterday morning to take a pic.
Looks much better with the naked eye!
I was disappointed to an extent as I thought it was lavender until I took my helmet off.

I'm wondering why they would grow a whole field of borage, Kate. Medicinal uses? Wildlfe? Anyhow, it must have looked impressive - such a gorgeous blue.

Thanks Klahanie! Yes, it so looked like lavender. There’s a lavender farm not ‘too’ far away from here…
It looked so lovely as we came over the hill and it really stood out from the other yellow and green fields.

I’m not sure, Ange? I did look it up and the fields are next to Lund village. Apparently Borage honey is actually sold at Seaways café where we were yesterday for a stop over to have a drink and a slice of cake!!

I used to grow Borage on the allotments Kate, as it brought the bees and hoverflies which helped such plants like French and runner beans.
I had a herb garden too and found out that every herb had it's place in the allotment, which brought beneficial insects in and detered the bad ones.
It is called Companion Planting and found this book years ago!

It must have been so lovely to have had a herb garden, Rose! I’ve also learned something from you today also in regards to borage. I spotted a couple of fields on the south bank yesterday, in Lincolnshire…so pretty. Borage sounds a perfect herb to grow!
