Anemone blanda, blue.

Anemone blanda, blue.

We started with 3 pots-full under the old apple tree (long since cut down). They moved themselves to an entirely different section of the border and are popping up in some numbers. There is the odd rogue white one which I think has jettisoned in fron a nearby border in the front garden. An example of plants putting themselves where THEY want to be!

They look lovely ... I had some in a free bag of 200 Summer bulbs with a delivery of Dahlias recently. I do hope they will thrive and flower next year, if not this one!

These are all seedlings, Shirley, so hopefully you'll have them spreading about very soon. The bees are very grateful!

Hope you've got lots of space for all your seedlings.

Very pretty spreader, Ange. Love the colour too, are they shade preference?

Their common name is wood anemone, Kate, so I always supposed they were semi-shade lovers. However, mine have forsworn shade and moved out into (mostly) sun. However, the closer I look the more I find them all over the place. They seem to settle better when planted out while growing (ie. now)!

I love these little flowers, they self seed freely for me too. I was always told they were the Balkan anemone or Grecian windflower, or winter windflower. Its a good job it has a scientific name with all the local names.

I have the UK native, white flowers, wood anemone, Anemone nemerosa and that is definitely a shady lady.

Oh you're right again, SBG. (Head hung in shame)... That's why it didn't want to stay where I put it!! Grecian windflower is such a pretty name, isn't it?

They’re so pretty. My blues and whites are in sunny spots (by chance).
