Lithops fulviceps

Lithops fulviceps

The lighting on these is a little strange because I am using my grow lights. It looks like a nice lemon yellow, but photographs like this.

Lovely flower even if that's not its true colour.

I've never grown them but I have seen plants occasionally for sale.

It is still opening every evening. It doesn't take much room since only a small pot is needed.

How long do the flowers last for?

I usually have them live two years, they flower and then die.
Do they do that for you?

It has been a week since the flower first opened, and it looks like it will last another day or two. Since this is the first time it has flowered, I don't know if it will die after that.

Don't take what I said as gospel for its future Wylie..seems like it could have been winter rains. I've tried Lithops only twice and some related- Fenestria (baby toes?) and not done well. But! A friend in mild Oakland had a great pot full of Baby Toes. Kind of shocking to see that!

I have been keeping my succulents very dry - inside the house & under grow lights that also help to keep them warm. I have 2 Kalanchoe tubiflora; one that has been outside and is green, and another that has been kept inside and is a grey/purple. Both are from tiny offsets.
