Solomon's Seal Sawfly (Polygonatum x hybridum (Common Solomon's seal))

Result of caterpillars eating the leaves of Polygonatum x hybridum. I ve probably picked off 50 + caterpillars ranging from tiny black blobs to full size chomping machines in just 2 days.

They've devastated the leaves. I'm watching out for this now, never seen it before.

Until the leaves are decimated, you would have to look very closely to see the emerging caterpillars, then 1 day later the blitters are 1" long and the damage is done.
Looking very closely at this pic now, there is a caterpillar on the edge of the 3rd leaf up on the left side. Pale grey job!

Nightmare...I ask myself is it worth growing.?

Every couple of days for the last week I've picked off caterpillars, dround them and put their bodies on the stepping stones for the birds.
