It certainly is Amy is nt nature wonderful sitting at my back door this morning two Robins one came very close to me singing looking at me then while one sat on the fence the one other who was singing from the rose support by my back door it went over to the mealworms I had just put down so I take that he was thanking me then two Great Tits came one flew up into the big tree while the other went to feed on the coconut fat hanging off my acer while a bumble bee was weaving in and out of the Acer around it.
Thank you Amy you ll have to put a bit of water and food out they will soon find it and put nesting boxes up for who ever visits your new garden.

3p I've done everything possible to encourage the birds I've put bird feeding stations everywhere , I'm pleased to say we have a pair of regular doves but apart from that its almost always big Jackdaws or rooks , we have seagulls screaming overhead all the time it was quiet during the winter but apparently they start this screeching in the mating season .. I'm hoping that once my new trees are established the little birds will have somewhere nice to perch in ...

That's great you have got Doves coming to visit your garden you could get a Dove cote or how about a bird table Amy they could perch on that. Have you looked up what birds live in your county and buy food those kind like to attract them in. Some years back before I put out nigra seed I never seen a Goldfinch around or in my garden nor a Bullfinch soon as I put the nigra seed out the 60ft Sycamore tree that over hangs my garden was full of them such a piercing sound they made taking turns to come down to the bird feeder. Since I got rid of the bird feeder because of rats and only put cocoanut with fat and just mealie worms I ve never seen them since.

With all that Amy I am surprised your garden is nt full but yes it does take the birds a while to notice especially if the previous owners never fed birds.
I have Seaguls here when I go up the canal to feed the Ducks I have to hide under the cNL bridge to feed them least tge Seaguls dive bomb and attack the other birds and ducks.
