Saw a gardening TV program this weekend that featured this plant and found out a lot about it and its uses. It was made by the Univ. of Georgia and is called "Gardening in Georgia". It is available on their website if you would like to take a look.

Looks like what they call Mondo Grass around here. But I have no clue as to the real name. I'm sure someone will know.
