Spring indoors!

Spring indoors!

We have snow coming up from the south, so I decided to enjoy Spring indoors... The Hellebore stems were face down in the snow, just shouting to come inside...:))

Perfect! I might do something tomorrow. I think it would help cheer me up! A trip to GC and a few spring flowers is just what I need...or I might just enjoy yours! That hellebore is really lovely!

That’s lovely . . . great idea :)

And now we don't need it, it's been so warm and sunny here this afternoon, no trace of snow and I've been busy in the garden, raking the lawn and tidying the borders, my yellow hellebore is looking better than ever with lots of new shoots emerging. The hebes don't look to be happy bunnies though, especially a beautiful cerise flowering one, it does look sick...but so far the only casualty.

Very attractive arrangement Janey.........warmer thankfully today, Hebes are slightly tender, even here they have taken a battering......will prune some of them soon....

I'm pleased you've posted that Dd, I have three which have just the tips of branches spoiled, the other looks affected down to ground level. I'll see how it recuperates over the next few weeks before I prune into it..

Lovely and colourful display there Janey. It's raining today although supposed to improve later on. I'm sorting out my pots and buying some new plants for them.

Hi Linda....yes been very gloomy and steady rain here too.. We seem to get one good day and one bad...so tomorrow should be sunny and bright???..:))
It's good to sort and plan isn't it, and starts off our gardening year. I'm sure you bought some smashing plants and your pots will look lovely, does give us a boost doesn't it?
I've been tidying up the borders and have lots to move and rearrange, old stuff to dig out and replace.. My south facing border is definitely going to be a dry garden, so lots of silver leaved plants and more herbs...I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

It's good to have a sort out now and again in the garden, and we have such a large choice of plants now don't we.
Gerry emptied out the compost bin and scattered that over the bare soil so the worms will have something to go at. On our night camera we have seen a woodmouse and hedgehog. Last year, we saw worms coming out crawling over the path at night.

We do Linda. I've just come home after having lunch with my granddaughter at our large local GC....so much choice of everything, yet I didn't succumb! I need to sort out the border first, putting the compost on like your hubby did, is a great idea, then writing down what to have where, moving stuff from other parts of the garden and then seeing if I've any space left. What about the worms that were in your compost bin Linda? Will, they just be in your garden now?
One plant I do want to split is a knautia I planted last year...it just bulked up but didn't flower, a pretty red one.

When we build up the compost heap Janey, we always get lots of worms in there, and when the compost gets spread, so do the worms on the garden.

Yes, they work their way up don't they? When I've seen the ones in mine, they're tiny pinky red ones...

28 Mar, 2018

Yes they are redder than the garden ones.
