Chilean Guava Fruit

Chilean Guava Fruit (Ugni molinae)

The last 2 berries on Ugni. It is only a new bush and had 5 of these small fruits. The ones I tasted about a month ago were hard, obviously not ripe then. They have taken about a month to ripen, now ripe, delicious, with an intense strawberry flavour. I am hoping for a bigger crop next year and have taken some cutting to try to increase the shrubs.

What else?

See who else is growing Ugni molinae.

See who else has plants in genus Ugni.

This photo is of "Ugni molinae (Chilean Myrtle (Strawberry Myrtle)" in Siris's garden
