Hibiscus moscheutos 'Southern Belle'

This is huge - 10" across. Grown from seed, every year it is getting more and more buds. The flowers only last a day.

Although there are a lot of hibiscus around here, I haven't seen any this big. It is deciduous, so would probably survive in the UK.

There is a set of different colors in the Southern Belle line, and it is much larger than the regular H. moscheutos. The regular ones are evergreen here, but these are deciduous. I also started this year H. moscheutos 'Luna Red' which is also dinner plate size and is a deep maroon.

I think the evergreen ones would nt survive our winters . Your Luna Red sounds lovely .
