Love all those colours together ...

Thanks Homebird, yes they go well together.

Shirley thanks, I have lots of new clematis, but something is eating the buds. No sign of slugs or snails, could it be earwigs ?

28 May, 2017

Yuk, there's a critter I cannot stand and I bet that's what is munching the buds.

28 May, 2017

I've sprayed them with bug spray - now the damage has been done !!? I will keep an eye on them now, with luck they may shoot out again.

I can remember when we had an allotment that somebody was growing Dahlias for cutting and Earwigs were everywhere! They laid short lengths of garden hose and/or bamboo canes, the Earwigs would hide in them during the day so it was easy to shake them out into a bucket at some point. No idea what they they did to the critters though! .....

That's a good idea, another is to put plastic cups on top of canes, probably with some straw inside, I seem to remember my dad doing that when he grew his chrysanthemum.

Yes, that's a tried and tested way, but not something I've ever done. Today I have been potting up Dahlias grown from seed and was disappointed to fine lots of Woodlice in the pots. They are now in the compost bin, hopefully munching away .....

O dear, sometimes you wonder why we bother, but it's the challenge, and what you get when you win the battle. We will keep going !!

That's the spirit! We have a new German supermarket near us now, the one beginning with 'A', and I bought 4 Fuchsia 'Swingtime' today for £1.99 ... what a bargain. :o)

30 May, 2017

O yes, we have one of those near here, and I bought some of those. Winston Churchill and Hana. Only trouble with our shop they never water them, so we often get to rescue some.

31 May, 2017

I always think they should designate a member of staff for 'watering the plants' duties! Well done on your bargains too ... :o)

Shirley, and Cinders..Thursday is delivery day at our 'A.'...store,and the plants are nice and fresh..and we have a designated manager now,to look after them..He told me so,when I went through his till with some Begonias !..just a thought,if you need anymore plants :o) x

We went along there for bags of compost as it was half the price of the GC ... the manager there had been 3 deliveries and all sold out really quickly. Hence I just bought the Fuchsias ... one flower has opened up this morning ... :o)
