Yes, I picked the pods in in 2014 as soon as ripe and sowed them in pots which I then over wintered outside, seedlings appeared 2015, when large enough transferred them to those terracotta tubs, end of 2015 put a few in the garden.

Not bad then Siris considering as I thought it would take longer to flower

I have managed to reduce the time from seed to flowering by cold stratification the seed in the fridge.

Funny enough we all sow the daylily seeds and keep in the fridge until they have sprouted

How long do you keep the iris seeds in the fridge ?

Gg, Ten weeks, between damp kitchen towel, stacked up on margerine lids in a poly bag.

Useful to know, I use plastic take away trays with lids.
Each seed spaced out in the compost so no need to transplant etc.

Don't put mine on compost, because some seeds germinate quickly, these I put in pots of compost to grow on immediately in the conservatory to overwinter, leaving the ungerminated ones longer in the fridge, then if they don't do so after more chilling, put them all in one pot and put outside. Some can take a year to germinate.

I knew about cold stratification but don't have the fridge space for pots. I have now stifted the lack of space problem to the garden!
