Thanks Waddy ,

I have to agree , swallows and house martins chattering away in the sky and the trickle of the water.

Absolutely beautiful! Did you all enjoy the series Jeremy Paxman did about the rivers. I don't know if it's still on...I watched the one on the Thames last night. I recorded the series. I absolutely love our rivers, especially the southern ones that meander gently with woodland glades and ducks and swans....ah...I feel quite nostalgic now. But not for the rivers of my youth. The Thames at Gainsborough is treacherous...very dangerous with under-currants and steep sided banks. But I too have been doing my family history and half of my relatives are from the South going back to Victorian times...Kent and Devon..which explains why I always felt so at home in the Southern Counties! :)

Hi Karen

Jeremy Paxman gets right up my hooter lol so NO lol
so thats two dislikes this week " Miss Bateman" being the other.

I have in the past piled all the stones up in the middle of the river and created a resting area for ducks, moor hens , dipper's they loved it and felt safe, next door asked me what was I doing in the middle of the river !!! tee heee ...
One thing I havnt seen is swans I dont know why as they do fly over to get down to the estuary.

I am lucky to have all this at the bottom of my garden ..

Indeed you are! I get you about Paxman, he annoys me too..he can be just bordering on plain rude sometimes. But I love rivers so much I can put up with him...at least he's intelligent in regard to facts, if not in regard to manners! ;)

thanks Karen

Thank you for remembering Gg! Its beautiful - my sort of place. I love the idea of piling up stones in the river. Your neighbour sounds rather a pain in the b....
Reminds me of when a visitor to the beach asked me why i was collecting seaweed (and washing it in the stream ) - was I going to eat it, they asked. (Several compost sackfuls....)
